Offshore Wind Energy

According to studies by the Virginia Coastal Energy Research Consortium (VCERC), the shallow waters 12 miles off our coast and class 5 and 6 winds make Virginia one of the prime states for offshore wind turbines.  Harnessing offshore wind could produce 10% of Virginia’s energy needs by 2017 and create a new green industry with thousands of jobs.
